The initials MPS stand for Milieu Programma Sierteelt, which means Floriculture Environmental Program. It is a non-profit organization, founded in Holland in 1995 by growers who were concerned about consumer opinions regarding the impact of growing on the environment.

Rockwell Farms participates in the MPS-ABC environmental sustainability program.

Rockwell Farms participates in the MPS-ABC environmental sustainability program. This program has over 4,000 growers in 55 countries around the world. Growers submit their use of water, energy, fertilizers and crop protection agents relative to the area in production and environmental zone of the growing areas. This information is tracked in a confidential database to give all grower participants a comparison of their use versus other similar growers around the world. With this information, growers decide what changes they wish to make in their production techniques which can lead to cost savings and better environmental practices.

Rockwell Farms Celebrates 35 Years!

Rockwell Farms recently celebrated its 35th Anniversary with a raucous party at the greenhouse facility in Rockwell, NC. Founded in 1979 by Tom and Dottie Abramowski, the modern greenhouse facility now spans 36 acres. In commemoration of the hard work and dedication of the Abramowskis and their employees, the shipping area of the facility was transformed into a delightfully decorated ballroom by the talented Carrie Poole and the staff at Party Reflections. Employees, vendors and guests enjoyed the musical styling of Amantha Mill (hyperink http://www.amanthamill.com/) accompanied by a delicious menu of food and drinks. Rockwell Farms would like to thank all of its employees, vendors and guests for a memorable occasion.

With high temperatures reaching the mid-60s this week, I was reminded of one the many benefits of living in the Carolinas…..spring, or at least “spring-like” weather is always nearby. Winter in the Carolinas can be unpredictable, but “spring-like” weather seems to always be, just around the corner.
